China is a large agricultural country with a large variety and quantity of agricultural wastes, most of which are not properly recycled. The unreasonable disposal of agricultural wastes causes severe pollution in agricultural non-point sources, which seriously restricts the ecological construction and sustainable development of agriculture in rural China.
During the 13th Five-Year Plan, the State Council, the Ministry of Agriculture and the Ministry of Environmental Protection has made clear arrangement for agricultural wastes recycling, aiming to solve the problem of rural environmental control, focusing on livestock and poultry manure, dead livestock and poultry, crop straws, agricultural products processing residues, forestry residues, energy crops, household garbage and organic wastes, with energy regeneration, recycling, harmless treatment and garbage reduction as the target so as to promote wastes recycling and improve sustainability of agricultural development.
